Avartan School of Music
The Avartan School aims to train students of Indian classical music with a complete perspective on music in the world. We use traditional music training as our base, and incorporate concepts from other systems of music into our training to give students a full circle perspective to connect what they learn to the music of today. Our school is unique in its effort to make it possible to learn and pursue Indian Classical Music with qualified instructors who are bringing the music into the 21st century. Students from all around the world can take classes online, or find qualified teachers near them with a guarantee of comprehensive training. Our goal is to host the best talent of all styles, instruments, and disciplines of Indian music to provide resources for students to learn any traditional style they choose.
Training consists of traditional style classical training and technique, musicianship, and music theory. In addition to classroom training, we provide online teaching resources covering various topics and special courses.
Students and teachers are put on a roster for performances and are matched up according to their skill level to events that are brought to us. Student progress is closely monitored and the teachers decide which performance opportunities are appropriate matchings for each eligible student. We work with local cultural centers, arts organizations, and schools/universities to set our artists up with the best possible opportunities available. We also provide recording opportunities and a creative platform for students and teachers to create and share their work on our foundation's digital platforms.
Our mission is to provide a pathway for students to continue to stay active in music after putting in the effort to master their craft, as well as make a way for aspiring artists to forge careers out of their chosen path with their training.
